Standardization of Remote Sensing Usage for Forensic Ecotechnique: forest and trees
Introvičová, Sabina ; Čermák, Jan (referee) ; Ulrich, Radomír (referee) ; Alexandr, Pavel (advisor)
The thesis presents the main points of standardization of remote sensing (RS) usage for Forensic Ecotechnique: forest and trees (FEft). Based on the study FEft expertise database, the types of expertise, which remote sensing data have already been used and the types where the use of remote sensing increases the exactness of solutions were analyzed. RS data are essential in a problematic situation when an examined object does not exist or has been changed at the time of the assignment. This situation may be solved by obtaining information about the investigated object via retrospective image data, as described in the model example. There are chosen categories of image data relevant to the needs of experts in this thesis. These categories of RS data and their products are described with an indication of their possible use in the expertise processing, including freely available or paid resources and archives of image data.
Archives and documentation of performance art: at the intersection between history and myth.
Písaříková, Jana ; Šedivá, Barbora (referee) ; Havlík, Vladimír (referee) ; Horáková, Jana (referee) ; Ruller, Tomáš (advisor)
The PhD thesis deals with the role of archives in the contemporary artistic and curatorial practice, with an emphasis on the performance art. It also analyses the creation process, methodology and the contents of selected personal and institutional archives in both Czech and international contexts. The objective of the paper is to answer the following questions: In what way is the documentation and subsequent archiving of process-oriented forms of art performed? How is the history of the contemporary art formed and interpreted through these archives and with the help of the artistic and curatorial practice? To what extent are we able to reconstruct the history from records and performance documents that are only fragmented, thus making a reference to a real action? Do the archives leave some room for misinterpretation, creating a myth or personality cult through its system of classification of knowledge? How indeed is the performance art related to its own history; how is this history perceived by the performer alone; and how is it approached by the professional audience? The paper will also include the analysis of current state and possible solutions to the operation of the archive of the Faculty of Fine Arts, which is related to opening a dialogue among artists, theorists and institutions that might be interested in better accessibility of such an archive.

Schwarzenberg Archivist František Tyl in mutual correspondence with the historian Josef Kalousek - an annotated edition of the preserved correspondence
POTUŽNÍKOVÁ, Eliška
The qualification thesis entitled Schwarzenberg Archivist František Tyl in mutual correspondence with the historian Josef Kalousek - an annotated edition of the preserved correspondence is based on the study of personal documents and aims to bring its reader a picture of the life and activities of Schwarzenberg archivist and librarian František Tyl (1830-1899) mutual interaction with the important Czech historian Josef Kalousek (1838-1915). František Josef Tyl worked for many years as an archivist at the Schwarzenberg Castle Archive in Orlík nad Vltavou, where he probably also met Josef Kalousek (during his frequent research in the South Bohemian archives) for the first time. The diploma thesis begins with a topic with a list of used archives and literature. The text itself is divided into three main parts, namely acquaintance with both actors (including information about their professional work or author's work), analysis and thematic analysis of edited documents and an annotated edition of mutual correspondence from 1885-1898. The text of the annotated edition is a necessary editorial note and contains all preserved correspondence between František Tyl and Josef Kalousek, which is in the personal collection of J. Kalousek in the National Museum Archive and in the collection of the Orlík nad Vltavou Agricultural and Forestry Archive located in the State Regional Archive in Třeboň. Ninety-one documents made available for publication are arranged chronologically. Each document has a brief abstract with the date and place of origin of the document and its short description, a natural part of the edition is also a register of names. The last part of the presented work contains an exhaustive list of sources, literature, Internet resources and, among other things, pictorial appendices.
The transformation of memory institutions in Europe and in the CR with focus on their "media acts"
Fridrich, Tomáš ; Bednařík, Petr (advisor) ; Sekera, Martin (referee)
The aim of the thesis "Memory institutions on the threshold of the 21st century: media activities of the National Film Archive and the Deutsches Filminstitut" is to explain the context in which the archives are acting, and in particular explore specific media operations of two leading European film archives. The focus of the first part of the text is to describe the changing conditions mainly related to digitalization. The traditionally rigid institutions must adapt to this new conditions if they want to onform to the standards of cultural institutions of the 21st century. The main part of the text then analyzes the media actions of the National Film Archive and reference institution Deutsches Filminstitut. The thesis analyzes the specific media actions from onlinepresentation of the institution up to the work with journalists and, if necessary, proposes the optimization of existing processes. The reason of focusing just on media activities is the increasing need to develop new audiences, recruited from persons who were up to this moment not interested in the activities of the archives, and last but not least, the fact that a good media activity can be a compelling argument when approaching sponsors from the private sector. In the perspective of continual reduction of state contributions to cultural...
Grey Literature and National Archives
Šimůnková, Karolína ; Kunt, Miroslav
National Archives selects the archival records from a various range of creators – from central agencies of the state administration and research institutions to individuals. All types of grey literature are present in the archives – research reports, travel reports, originally secret prints, digital journals, maps and studies etc. Internet and intranet websites are specific example. The paper on examples shows handling with the grey literature, which is not distinguished from other (official) production in the archival practice. The paper also introduces the National Archival Portal and its options for description and submission of the individual data files designated for long term preservation.

Legal Framework for Digitalisation and Storage of Digital Works by Public Archives
Koščík, Michal
The paper aims to provide a practical overview of the legal framework for the digitization of copyright works, which are a part of the collections and archives of public and general-interest institutions. The paper also focuses on the legal framework on using digital copies of works, which exist exclusively in digital form (i.e. they cannot be digitized) and for which there is a public interest in their preservation. The paper analyses copyright exemptions under current legislation and the possible evolution of the legal framework for digital archives within the framework of the forthcoming EU Single Digital Market Regulation.

In Out, In Out, And Shake It All About: A Moving Story of Data
Stevenson, Jane
The Archives Hub blends data. We bring together descriptions of archives, archival resources and repositories in a way that enables us to present an effective and valuable service through our website. We spent two years creating an entirely new system that was built upon the principle of bringing in data from different sources and providing that data for different purposes. I would like to give some insights from our experience of doing this, and consider whether we have created something innovative and with inherent potential for future development. I will talk about the architecture that we wanted to create, the workflow that we believed to be essential to our aims, and the challenges that we faced in being able to create a blend of data that could be successfully deblended in different ways. It required a great deal of thought and planning in terms of what we wanted to achieve, how we should process the data to fulfil those aims, and how we would work with data contributors, who were essential to our success. Over a year after going live with the new service, have we achieved our aim of more consistent, standardised data, and have we provided the realistic potential for the data to be re-used? I will give examples of where I think we have fulfilled our aims and where we still have issues. I will argue that the ability to blend/deblend relies upon systems and technology, but it also relies upon people and their habits, expectations, understanding and ambitions.
